From the Publisher
This book is written in a very "chatty", easy to read format and contains what one reader called "a goldmine of information, tips and stories" to ease the inexperienced into the lifestyle of the part time or full time RVer. The author's manner of writing has been called "charming", "funny", and "delightful to read", while imparting a great deal of information to the reader. This book will assist them in their decision making process, as well as the physical aspects of traveling and living in a recreational vehicle. The book includes a wealth of information.

The book we should have had when we became RVers. I, as the author of "Your Home On Wheels" am so happy to be able offer this book to a wide audience through Amazon.com. The response we have receive from our readers so far, has been very gratifying. This book has been called "a great book filled with a gold mine of information and ideas". There are lots of terrific books for RVers available, but this one is truly for the Beginner! After becoming Full Time RVers, my husband and I realized how little we knew about selecting a recreational vehicle, loading an RV with the items we needed without overloading it, and traveling and living in an RV. My book is intended to help people who are considering, or just getting into, the RV lifestyle. In addition to the above I have included lots of tips, ideas and some good stories. I have also gone into great detail with respect to decorating your RV, map programs, mail service, phone service and a few suggestions to help you get along with your partner in the confined area of an RV. Also included are Checklists (outside and inside of RV), Questionaires for obtaining insurance and joining RV Park Memberships, I trust that "Your Home On Wheels" will help you to get started in a lifestyle that is exiting and fun!
About the Author
Born in 1943 in Los Angeles, California, Carol Ray married her husband Bill Ray in 1963. They lived in California and Texas and together they raised three children. Carol was a full time wife and mother until 1983 when she returned to her career as Escrow Officer. After several years she became Manager of an Escrow Company and continued with her career until she retired early to spend more time with her two granddaughters. When Bill retired from his job as an Operations Manager for a large trucking company, they made the decision to travel and purchased their first recreational vehicle. For one month they lived in it and prepared it for travel. Without any experience they took six months to make their way cross country, making their share of mistakes and learning as they went. Since then they have traveled over most of the United States and are planning an extensive trip to Alaska in the summer of 1999. On several occasions Carol complained to Bill that someone should write a book intended strictly for beginners to the RV lifestyle and he challenged her to write one, which she did in a little over eight months. Her book is entitled "Your Home On Wheels", a Beginners Guide to Becoming a Part Time or Full Time RVer.

Best Full-time RVing Book to Date!
We own and have read a half-dozen of the newer full-time RVing books we have found. This new third edition of Bill and Jan's book is the most detailed and useful that I have yet to find. I can look an books after I am done and can tell how useful they are by how many folded page corners there are and how much yellow highlighting I had done. This one is tops. The latest in communications are covered, some of the best discussion on floorplans I have seen, and more.
This one is a must read.

A must read if you are considering fulltime RVing
I found this book answered all the questions I had about living on the road fulltime. Somethings that were mentioned I have not even considered. If you love to travel in an RV, regardless of the amount of time you spend Rving, then this book is for you.

We are fulltimers and have found a very special place.
We were (Marg and I) were visiting family on Van. Isl. Mom was ill and dying with cancer. we had to find a place to stay. Well-Victoria is not a place for our kind of RVing, There is the Maze at Fort Vic. or $35. a day at Esqimalt.. After a few days of searching, we came across Clearwater R.V. a few km from Shawnigan Lake, at first we were not too sure, gravel pads, a short gravel roads to get there?.. We stayed for two months, the price was soo reasonable. Cheaper than winter rates, full TV, sewer, telephone, great treated stream water, Long house for Family Bar-B-Q's, Outside stone Bar-B-Q pit, horseshoes and more, New shower and laundry room, (coin) All this and you are still in the wilderness, walking trails, biking trails. The new owners have spent a lot of money tring to make this place special. Lester and Marlene Klughart (604) 748- 8660 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A must read RV book
Lots of practical, frugal approaches to RV living and travel. While the book primarily describes the pros of full time RVing by travel trailer and 5th wheel, it was worth more than the purchase price. Lots of tips on how to make inexpensive modifications to your RV to make it far more livable and easier to clean. Points out the shortcomings of many popular floor plans, and their preferred floorplan for comfortable RV living. Although I have no plans to become a full time RVer, the different perspective changed my mind on the type of RV I will eventually buy, saving me from an expensive mistake. Some of the information appears dated since the book's publication in 1993 - cell phones, satellite TV changes - so don't make this your only RV book. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
