It was with great anticipation that I set about writing this book, for historically it was long overdue! My first intimation that something was truly amiss regarding women's role during the time of Jesus, and for that matter now, was in 1975 while reading a passage entitled "The Ten Women Evangelists" from a book titled Urantia. In the footnote was an additional statement which said, "and later two more were added and they were Mary Magdalene and Rebecca." As I read this I wondered if it was alluding to the twelve women apostles, and, like all before them, through ignorance or lack of courage dared not speak out in the face of supreme authority...the Vatican? As I absorbed this thought an inner voice said, "Indeed there were twelve women apostles, and some day you will write a book on this very subject." Thirteen years later, when the memory of the incident had become hazy, I was told that the time had come to write the cook about the twelve women apostles. Following these inner dictates, I sat down and began writing with little thought for preparation, composition or format. Indeed, the pen and paper seemed to be the master and I was along for the ride. The material flowed so easily and effortlessly that, despite the fact that I was on a lecture circuit and traveling extensively, I completed the book in less than two months. Obviously, I had a lot of help. The book is an instrument to expose the great injustice, fraud and inequities leveled upon womanhood by a few misogynistic men after the death of the Master Jesus. These insecure and egocentric few could not bear to accept the well-established truth that, in the eyes of Father-Mother God, men and women were equal, and if they ever hoped to successfully return to the Source from which they came, then this truth must become a reality. What better instrument to begin this rectification than through the men and women apostles? How could humans, as a consciousness, hope to regain total awareness while playing with half a deck, i.e. with the twelve men apostles alone? Where is the balance? Where is the equality? Although the book contains a running scenario embracing love and romance, intrigue, compassion and understanding and much more, its primary thrust has to do with many of the Master's teachings that were given to the select twenty-four each evening after dinner. These teachings answer many of the important questions of our current times and serve as a realistic explanation for what is happening to us as a planet, a people and a consciousness. Most aptly, it elucidates the rightful role of women, without whom we cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. Men must be aware that woman is the key to this great metamorphosis which is upon us. Since our lower heavens are feminine in aspect, it is basically her world and not ours. We, of course, are the thrust and desire necessary for the introduction of the new and incoming Christed energies, but unless the seed falls upon fertile ground..."the women's perceptive and receptive consciousness," it will come to naught. In most instances, and particularly in the present, we men need women more than women need us. So wake up, and let's be about our Father-Mother's business! VIRGIL ARMSTRONG
